3rd generation AirPods are expected to be released after 2021.
Apple expands its wireless earphone lineup. It is expected to release wireless over-year headphones in the second half of this year and introduce follow-up products for AirPods next year.
"As the third generation of AirPods can be mass-produced from the first half of 2021, no new AirPods will be released until early next year," said Ming Chi-guo, an analyst at TF Securities Co. on the 23rd (local time). "Over ear headphones will start mass-producing from the middle of this year."
Overyear headphones, which Apple is releasing this year, are likely to be released months after being unveiled at Apple's developer conference WWDC in June. Ming Qiguo introduced the product's name as "Studio Pod," and explained that it will be available in two products, including premium models and fitness-specialized models. Meanwhile, Ming Chih-kuo did not mention the "AirPod Pro Light" model, which excludes noise cancelling functions. Foreign media believe the product is likely to be one of the Bits brand's wireless earphone models.
As for "AirPod X," which YouTuber John Procer predicted to launch in the second half of this year, Ming Chi Guo believes it is likely to be released under the "Beats" brand instead of the Apple brand. Ming Chih-kuo predicted that it will offer noise cancelling functions with designs similar to Beats X. Earlier, the icon for the new headphones was detected in the iOS 14 code, raising speculation that the launch of the new wireless headphones is imminent.
Third-generation AirPods are expected to be released after 2021. Apple is reportedly testing wireless earphones that add fitness-related features. Ming Qiguo said, "Though there are changes in the internal design of the 3rd generation AirPods, the external design will not be much different from the existing AirPods," adding, "We will start mass production in the first half of 2021, and mass production will be possible from the end of 2021.
